Bentosa Massage

Massage therapists all over Australia, United States and Canada are learning this amazingly native therapy to treat clients. Bentosa (or Negative Pressure Cupping) Massage is the combination of massage movements and negative pressure using suction devices on the skin. Bentosa is based on ancient techniques and modern science. By creating negative pressure above the surface of the tissues, we decrease the atmospheric pressure on the tissues, allowing the tissue to be lifted upwards and changing the pressure on underlying tissues, such as nerves, capillaries and fascia.

The intended suction can range from light to heavy. This, along with the classic movements performed and areas treated by the therapist will produce stimulating (toning) or sedating (draining) effects. It is important that therapists be able to effectively assess the condition (physical, mental and emotional) of clients, before the procedure, so they employ the proper application of the cups to produce the desired outcome.

This training-workshop introduces participants to the theory and practice of applying bentosa (negative pressure cups), its principles in alleviating pain, decreasing swelling, increasing range of motion and speeding up healing processes. This class will outline the theory and actions of massage cupping, the tools used to perform the technique and the basics of using these tools safely and effectively. Participants will also learn how negative pressure massage cupping can release rigid soft tissue, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bringing blood flow to skin and muscles. Included also are guidelines on how to combine this new therapy to European Swedish Massage, Thai-Yoga Massage, Japanese Shiatsu Acupressure or Slimming-Cellulite Massage,
